Research
This webpage is a central resource for GP practices in LLR who are looking to learn more and engage in health and care research.
Research, as defined in the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, is ‘the attempt to derive generalisable new knowledge by addressing clearly defined questions with systematic and rigorous methods’ [1].
Research plays a crucial role in advancing medical knowledge, improving patient care, and driving innovation in health and care. Clinical trials are essential for testing the safety and efficacy of new medications, therapies, care pathways, and medical procedures. Being part of this journey can be extremely rewarding for practices. It can improve job satisfaction, staff retention, and allow Primary Care teams to be part of the development of innovative treatments and approaches to care, improving patient health outcomes and quality of life.
Research may also help us understand how to design healthier places, develop healthy public policy, and influence the broader context in which we live, such as the homes we live in, the work or education we undertake, and social connectedness of our communities.
