Making Every Contact Count enables organisations and individuals to alter how they interact with people through learning how to recognise opportunities to talk to people about their wellbeing. It’s about ‘what matters to Sarah’ instead of ‘what is the matter with Sarah’. There are different levels of training available, including an eLearning package.

The initiative allows residents who require help with one or a number of issues to access a catalogue of information, advice, help and support. Start a Conversation is committed to building a community that supports the mental health and wellbeing of people across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

Every life lost to suicide can affect the mental health of so many people within the community.

The campaign is led by Leicestershire County Council working in partnership with a number of organisations, from a variety of sectors from the community, that have come together with a commitment to prevent suicide.

The #StartAConversation campaign would like residents and communities across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland to be more aware of the warning signs of suicidal behaviour and to have an open and honest approach to conversations about suicide. In this way we can work together to prevent suicide.
